Help Children Cambodia

Butterfly Educational Centre is a learning center in Cambodia founded in February 2014 by Margarida Alberty.

This private initiative offers the impoverished children of Wat Dom Nak Village the ability to participate in various activities 100% free. Activities include English classes, Painting and Drawing, IT classes, Sewing and Traditional Dance Classes. In addition to educating the village children, the center aids their families and offers jobs to Cambodian locals.

Butterfly Educational Center aims to provide these children who are so eager to learn, additional educational opportunities which are not offered in state schools. By acquiring knowledge and different skills, the children have more of a chance to find better jobs allowing them to rise above a life of extreme poverty that they presently live in, giving them wings to fly towards a brighter future.

Ana Margarida Alberty from Portugal founded butterfly Educational Centre in January 2016.

In 2012, she came to Cambodia to volunteer at BCI (Bridges Cambodia International Orphanage) for one month. Following her first visit, she traveled to rural areas teaching English which later developed into the mobile Ana Banana Tuk-Tuk School.

In January 2016, she founded a new project, Butterfly Educational Center that is located in Watdomnak Village, Salakomreok Commune, Siem Reap Cambodia. This afterschool activity center provides free classes in English, Art, Music, Traditional Dance, Sewing and IT to approximately 120 children.  At the same time, the 3 Ana Banana Tuk- Tuk Schools continue to educate children in rural areas serving around 210 children every weekend.

There are 13 employees working together on a variety of projects. Below is the structure of management in Butterfly Educational Centre:

  • To give children wings to fly by learning a variety of different skills, better preparing them to establish a life out of extreme poverty
  • Create job opportunities to Cambodian people.

  • Discover new cultures and skills
  • Give them an opportunity to learn about other cultures
  • Open their minds, to be kind, and friendly
  • Learn more about hygiene.

How you can help?

  1. Sponsor a Child

With your help underprivileged children receive free education and a chance to learn and develop skills not offered in public schools.

Only a monthly $10 USD or a yearly $120 USD can make a BIG difference!!!

Through Paypal:

  1. Pay for the Rent and Electricity

We are running a free education center in a rented house with a cost of $450 USD per month and monthly cost of  $60USD for electricity.

A small but significant amount of  £20 USD per month or $200 USD per year you can help us sustain his initiative and help to support the education 120 children enrolled at Butterfly Educational Centre.

  1. Building a New Classroom

Presently. we are faced with a growing number of students and the lack of an adequate classroom.

The estimated cost of of building a wood structured classroom with full learning equipment is approximately $2000 USD

  1. Sponsor a computer

There are only 4 computers in the computer class. All the students are keen to learn computer skills but due to insufficient computers we are limited in providing all the children this opportunity.

A donation of  $300USD for a computer would allow for more children to learn IT skills.

What will you receive after your contribution?
